School mornings can be rushed.
Breakfast, uniforms, bags, water bottles — and somehow everyone still needs to leave on time.
Your child’s skincare routine does not need to add stress. For most kids, a simple morning routine is enough.
Step 1: Rinse or cleanse
If your child’s face is sweaty or oily, use a gentle cleanser. If their skin feels normal, rinsing with water may be enough.
Step 2: Moisturize
A lightweight moisturizer helps hydrate the skin and support the skin barrier. This is helpful for children who spend long hours in air-conditioning, sweat during recess, or have skin that feels dry or tight.
Children’s skin is still developing, and younger skin can be more vulnerable to dryness and irritation than adult skin [1].
Step 3: Apply sunscreen before outdoor time
If your child will be outdoors, apply sunscreen after moisturizer. Dermatology guidance recommends layering moisturizer first, followed by sunscreen [2].
Sunscreen should be applied to exposed areas before going outside and reapplied every 2 hours when outdoors, and after swimming or heavy sweating [2].
To avoid pilling, use thin layers and avoid rubbing too much. A 2024 study found that skincare pilling happened most often after sunscreen application, and rubbing motions increased pilling events [3].
Oumi Kids Calm & Hydrate Face Cream is designed for children aged 6+ as a lightweight daily face moisturizer. Apply it before school, let it settle, then follow with sunscreen if your child will be outdoors.
